"Offpage optimization factors will shoot you up the search engines - if done properly!"

As I briefly mentioned earlier offpage optimization factors are essentially backlinks. This is where I would have my link on someone else's site.

Why is this important? Let me explain.

The more backlinks you have, i.e. links on the web that point back to your site, the higher you will rank in the search engines because they will see your site and more important, because people have chosen to link to you.

The number of links is mainly the deciding factor, but so is the quality. In other words, it is better to have a link from a site that is on page 1 of the SE results than to have a link that is on page 10 of the SE results.

This leads us on to page rank. Page rank (PR) is a measure of how many links you have pointing to your site and is measured out of 10. A page rank of 2-4 is around average; 5-6 is quite good and 7+ is very good. To obtain a PR of 7 or above you are going to need a lot backlinks!

So, it is better to have a link from a high PR site than a lower PR site. It is quite possible, and often found that a site with, for example, 100 backlinks could outrank a site with 300 backlinks because their 100 backlinks are from a more quality source - a higher PR.

Another factor about backlinks are relevancy. SE's rewards you (rank you higher) for having a link on a site which is relevant to yours. There is no point in having your link on a site about "dinosaurs" when your site is about "home DIY". More relevant backlinks will aid you in obtaining a higher SE position.

So how do you get these wonderful backlinks?

There are a lot of ways to get backlinks pointing to your site, here are the most popular:

Submitting articles

Write an article around 400-500 words about the topic of your site. Include your backlink at the bottom of your article or in the summary or biography box and then submit it too the major article directories such as ezinearticles.com, goarticles.com, articlealley.com.

This is a great way to get backlinks since a lot of the more popular article directories have a high PR and the article is on topic and focused to the theme of your site. This can take on a viral approach too since people can use your articles as content for their sites, including your backlink, which means your article/backlink can spread across the net like wildfire!

This however can be time consuming, especially if you have a lot of articles to submit. Luckily, there is software available that can spread up the whole submission process. Article submitters can store your article, store all your contact info, contain all the best article directories and will save you hours and hours of time going through the submitting process.

Be careful though as some of them aren't as good as they make out and you could end up getting stung. I highly recommend Instant Article Submitter. This is a great new product, which can have serious results for your marketing campaign, just check out the example on their site, its quite amazing! To check it out Click Here!

Forums

Posting comments in forums is one way to get backlinks. Do a search on Google for "your topic" "forum" and click on one, leave a comment making sure you have your backlink as your signature and your done. There is also software for doing this but I wouldn't bother with any of it as most are just spam which will leave your link in untargeted and unwanted places, which will do you more harm than good.

Reciprocal linking

This is where you exchange your link on someone else's site for their link on yours. This can be a great way to backlinks for your site. You would simply email the webmaster asking them to put your link on their site and in exchange you will link back to them. Most sites will agree as you will be helping them out. As long as you have a good, content based site there should be no problem with them agreeing.

There is software that can do this for you too. How great would it be to search for 1000's of related sites, instantly get there contact info, email them all at once requesting a link exchange, and instantly have a ready made links page containing their link all in under 10 minutes? I think you would agree that it would be pretty amazing. Once the webmasters of the sites you emailed agree, and they will, you could have 1000's of backlinks pointing to your site all for 10 minutes work!

Well it is possible with SEO Elite by Brad Callen. This software is amazing and I personally use it to optimize my sites and blogs. Just check out the demo videos on his site, truly awesome. To go there now,Click Here!

So, backlinks, along with proper onpage optimization should move you nicely up the search engines. With a higher position you get more visitors and with more visitors we all know that means more money!

"Is it possible to get indexed in Google within 48 hours?" The answer is a simple, yes.

Normally, when you are trying to get your site indexed with the major search engines you would typically go to Google.com and look for their "submit site" link. From there you would enter your site details etc and it could take up to 6 weeks for your site to get indexed. Six weeks is a long time!

With Yahoo! you would do the same and even have to pay up to $299 just for someone to review your site - and even then they could refuse it.

Well, I will tell you now that you should never use site submission forms! Simply because they take too long and in some cases cost a lot of money.

What I am about to explain is a very simple method, which I always use to get my sites and blogs indexed.

Firstly, you have to understand how a search engine spider crawls through the web and how it indexes sites.

A SE spider will visit a site and look for links on that site. The spider will then visit all the links on that site and then search those sites for more links and visit them thus repeating the process over and over again.

Therefore, it makes sense that if you have the link to your site on someone else site then you will get indexed. It's as simple as that.

The best and quickest way I know of getting your link on another site, unless you already have an indexed site, is to submit articles.

You simple write a small article and post it to the main article directories such as ezinearticles.com or goarticles.com.

These are high page rank sites, which get updated regularly to supply fresh content. Having your link at the bottom of one of your articles at a high PR article directory will get you indexed in no time.

Another thing you can do to speed up the whole process is to submit your site to My Google Personal Homepage, My MSN and My Personal Yahoo! Homepage. Simply visit these sites and look for the "add content" button and simply follow the stages.

Doing this will bring in the spiders a bit quicker to index your site. So there it is, how to get indexed in the search engines within 48 hours. It sure beats waiting 6 months or paying a lot of money!

When it comes to website optimization there are two kinds; there is onpage and offpage optimization.

Onpage optimization involves your title, description, Meta tags and keyword density.

Offpage optimization is the number of backlinks you have pointing to your website, which will be discussed later.

When it comes to onpage optimization you should follow these guidelines:

• Title – this must involve your keywords. There is absolutely no point in having the title of your website “Welcome to my website!” Involve your keywords and try to cut out any other words such as “and”.

• h1 header tags – This is where you place your most important keywords and they should go as near to the top of the page as possible. SE’s read web pages from left to right also so it’s best to place h1 tags in the top left of your web page.

• h2 header tags – These are basically the subheading of your web page and will include your second most important keywords. h2 header tags also go near the top of the page.

• Keyword density – When it comes to writing the main content for your web page you should try to include your keywords in a natural way throughout the text. This will help the SE’s decipher your keyword focused content pages. As a general rule of thumb you can aim to have 2% of your text as keywords.

• Bolding or italicizing keywords – This isn’t crucial but it can sometimes help the SE’s pick up which are your keywords and which aren’t. Only do this once per keyword though or it may do more harm than good.

That’s really all there is to onpage optimization. As long as your website is well laid out and with keywords in their proper places as I have outlined above you will be on the road to success.

However, don’t believe that onpage optimization will shoot you up the SE’s all by itself. This is a huge misconception and one of the main reasons why people fail at SEO. Onpage factors are the easy bit and are only just the beginning of getting your site to the top of the search engines!

The true power of SEO comes in offpage factors. This includes how many backlinks you have pointing to your website, the quality of these links, the Page Rank of the site linking to you and many other factors.

This will be explained at a later date. Don’t worry though, its not as complex as a lot of people make out! Step – by – step it can be a very easy skill to master.

"If you optimize the wrong keywords you make things 100x harder for yourself!"

Everyone in the internet marketing world has probably heard the saying, "If I build it, will they come?". Of course, what they're talking about is a website and whether or not they will get any visitors.

Most people have done this, including myself, and have failed miserably! Most people will then give up and decide to themselves, "the internet doesn't doesn't work!". Well it does work, you just need to know how to operate it!

Before you do anything to your website you need to do a little keyword research around your topic. For the I'mample Im about to show you I will use the topic of "gardening".

One of the best tools for doing keyword research is Overtures Keyword Selector Tool, which you can visit by clicking here, http://inventory.overture.com

Firstly, you would type the seed word, in this case gardening, into the search box. The following results were taken from June 2006:

143864 - gardening
18579 - organic gardening
17236 - gardening tip
15868 - gardening tool
15318 - container gardening
15052 - gardening supply
11947 - gardening idea
10690 - raised bed organic gardening
6410 - organic vegetable gardening
3395 - vegetable gardening
3098 - flower gardening

You can see "gardening" had 143,864 searches performed each month on overture. You can roughly multiply that number by 8 to get the number of searches performed on Google.

When we do a Google search on the keyword "gardening", look at the results:

Web Personalized Results 1 - 10 of about 130,000,000 for gardening [definition]. (0.18 seconds)

Here, there is 130,000,000 competing websites which is far too many when you're first starting to promote your site.

You're better off scrolling down the list of keywords we found earlier and look for a more specific keyword phrase. For example, lets have a look at the keyword "gardening idea".

This keyword has 11,947 searches performed each month, which is still quite a lot, especially when you can multiply that by 8 to find the searches performed on Google.

So now lets take a look at the competition on Google:

Web Results 1 - 10 of about 12,100,000 for gardening idea. (0.14 seconds)

Here, we can see there are only 12,100,000 sites competing for this keyword. This is a much more realistic keyword to be going after.

If we look even further down the list we can see the keyword, "organic vegetable gardening". This has 6,410 searches performed each month, which is a little smaller but is more of a niche market.

Now lets have another look in Google and see what the competition is like:

Web Personalized Results 1 - 10 of about 6,260,000 for organic vegetable gardening. (0.24 seconds)

This keyword has only 6,260,000 competing websites, which is even better!

The key here is to go after the smaller niche keywords with less competition first, get some initial traffic rolling and then go after the larger keywords.Keyword research doesn't really take that long and is a critical step in building a successful SEO campaign.
